What is the best type of cat for a person with allergies?

People tend to be even more alergic to cats than dogs. Getting a hairless cat may help but they aren't everyone's cup of tea, they are expensive, they come with specific care requirements and theres no gurantee even they won't trigger your allergies.

Most people are allergic to proteins in the cat saliva and not the dander or hair and even a hairless cat will lick and clean itself.

I know you may want a cat, go to a pet adoption center and play with some different animals and see what triggers you and what doesn't and if you can live with a cat. If not a cat maybe look into a toy poodle.
